Ingredients
100 g fine milk powder
¼ tsp baking soda
3 tbsp milk
4 tbsp plain flour
2 tbsp melted butter
For the syrup
250 ml water
200g sugar
Toppings (optional)
Desiccated coconut
Pistachio nuts crushed
Method
Heat the sugar and water in a pan until the sugar dissolves
Mix together the milk powder, flour, butter, baking soda and milk to make a firm dough.
With the dough make small ball shapes, no bigger than a golf ball (use cooking oil on your hands so the mixture does not stick to you)
Shallow fry the balls for 6-7 minutes until they become golden brown
Drain on a piece of paper then place in a bowl.
Pour over the sugar syrup and leave to allow the gulab jamuns to soak the syrup
Serve with Ice cream and the toppings
